If you wish to give a touch of classic excellence to your playing apparels, you could use lacoste polo shirts. Going back to the early 1920s game of tennis, the Lacoste logo has its origin in the name of the legendary French tennis player Rene Lacoste, who was also known as one of the four musketeers of tennis. For his tenacious playing style and uncanny ability of holding the tempo of the game to the disadvantage of opponents, he was also known as “the Alligator” in the playing circles.

Towards the beginning of the 20th century, encouraged by the changes in the tennis apparel, manufacturers started cloning them for the games of polo. After his retirement from the active game of tennis La Coste embarked in the market as one of the leading fashion designers. Not only his shirt was popular in the tennis playing circles but was also very popular among the polo players who started using it extensively. It turned out to be the new trend in the gaming circle just as the gloverall duffle was becoming the trend in the winter apparel markets.

It ultimately resulted in collaboration between La Coste and Andre Gilier, the largest of the French manufactures of knitwear firms of the time, in 1933. By 1940, the La Coste tennis shirts came to be known as the polo shirts.

Colored shirts were introduced in 1951 and shoes, hats, and sweaters followed since 1960 onwards. Today the la coste polo shirts rank parallel with such other apparels as the lyle and scott and other popular dresses in the market.
